Tiger Eye
Tiger's eye is mined in Western Australia, South Africa, USA, Canada, India, Namibia, and Burma and is a brown quartz silicon dioxide incorporating lustrous yellow and brown parallel fibres. Tiger's Eye jewellery glitters with a small ray of light. Exceptional examples can be found like the marra mamba tiger's iron rough from Australia which looks like the evening sun setting behind a mountain range. Tiger’s Eye can have a greenish cast with shades of brown, golden yellow, red and blue veining. Tiger’s Eye jewellery requires great skill to make because the minerals in the stone are of varying hardness, making it difficult to polish without under-cutting. Tiger‘s Eye is a semi-precious stone for the month of December and the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Dec 21-Jan 19). >
