Onyx
Usually black or brown with white bands, Onyx can also come in orange, red, or the very rare honey coloured varieties. A type of chalcedony, Onyx is made from alternating broad, flat bands of black and white and if the stone is brown and white it is called Sardonyx. Onyx has long been used for decoration and jewellery. Onyx jewellery is said to help in releasing negative emotions such as grief and sorrow. It is also used to terminate troublesome or unhappy partnerships and relationships. Onyx jewellery also guards the user against negative vibes because black gemstones are said to have protective energies that create the illusion of invisibility. Onyx is the tenth wedding anniversary gem and the birthstone for the month of February as well as being a mystical stone for December. It’s also a lucky charm for people under the Leo zodiac sign.
