Lapis Lazuli

Found in a range of countries including Chile, the United States, the Soviet Union, but most significantly from the mountains of Afghanistan, Lapis Lazuli is an amazing deep blue gemstone with sparkles of gold pyrites. Also known as ‘the stone of royalty’, Lapis Lazuli jewellery has long been a symbol of the night sky alight with stars. Lapis was considered to be a royal stone by the ancient Egyptians and many early cultures valued Lapis lazuli jewellery more highly than gold. Lapis Lazuli is a "stone of total awareness", helping to expand awareness and intellectual capacity, and is a semi-precious stone for the month of August and the zodiac sign of Virgo (Aug 22-Sep 22).
