Amber is essentially fossilized tree resin and can vary in colour from yellow to red and sometimes green through to blue but its more familiar colour is a deep honey brown. Sometimes insects or pieces of vegetation are trapped in the resin. As Amber matures the process of polymerization that created it continues to take place.
